Sunrise in most of the US is now after 7am, and it gets later every week until December. If you feel flat by mid-afternoon, the light inside your house is part of the picture.
Two changes worth making this month:
- Get brighter light early. Studies suggest morning light exposure helps set your body’s clock. A 4000-5000K bulb where you have your coffee — kitchen counter, desk — for the first hour of your day will do more for you than a lamp you switch on at 6pm.
- Go warmer and lower at night. 2700K at low output after sunset. Cool white after dark works against the wind-down your body is already trying to do.
The easy version: one brighter, neutral bulb where you start your day. 2700K everywhere you sit after dinner. That’s the whole protocol — no app, no schedule, no smart bulb required.
A note: this is about everyday light comfort, not a treatment for any condition. If seasonal changes hit you hard, talk to a doctor.
